La carriera artistica di Robert inizia all'età di 9 anni, quando diventa mascotte televisiva in una TV locale di London, in Canada. Trasferitosi a Toronto, Robert passa alla radio divenendo il più giovane DJ/newscaster canadese a soli 16 anni. A 18 passa alla TV come Senior Story Producer presso la maggiore emittente multilingue del mondo, producendo e presentando servizi per una trasmissione in prima serata tutti i giorni.

Dopo aver visto The Phantom of the Opera nel 1989, la sua neonata passione per il musical porta Robert a tentare per gioco e per puro caso un'audizione per una compagnia semi-professionale. Il musical è Sweet Charity. Notato dalla regista, gli viene proposto un piccolo ruolo nel musical successivo, See Saw, ruolo che comporta anche una canzone da solista. Con molto timore, ma sempre per gioco, Robert lo affronta e vince anche questa scommessa, venendo scritturato per il ruolo principale nello spettacolo successivo, Oklahoma!. In questo periodo Robert interpreta altri due musicals, Anything Goes (dove si esibisce come ballerino di tip tap e jazz, coreografato dal coreografo di Liza Minnelli) e The Music Man. Durante questo stesso periodo Robert affronta anche il provino per la produzione ufficiale di Les Misérables, dove arriva al terzo provino per il ruolo di Grantaire, provino che però non farà poiché poiché dopo 16 anni di Canada deciderà di tornare al suo Paese d'origine.

A Roma ha modo di lavorare ad un progetto musical inedito, MacGregors, di cui è co-autore dei testi e protagonista, che presenta Off-Broadway nel 1995, con la regia congiunta di Saverio Marconi e Baayork Lee e sotto la supervisione del più importante maestro d'armi di Broadway, Ian Rose.

Negli anni successivi, Robert lavora in produzioni quali Blood Brothers, come co-protagonista al fianco di Marina Fiordaliso, Notre Dame de Paris di Riccardo Cocciante, nel ruolo di Frollo nel 2002 al Gran Teatro, Moulin Rouge nel ruolo di Christian nel 2005, Il Conte di Montecristo, di cui è protagonista e autore, con la regia di Gino Landi nel 2008 e Canterville, di cui è protagonista e co-autore, con la regia di Marco Simeoli nel 2012.

Robert's career begins at 9, when he becomes co-host of a local television show in London (Ontario). He later moves to Toronto and becomes Canada's youngest ever DJ/newscaster at 16 on a local radio station. Two years later he moves back to television as Senior Story Producer of a primetime show on the world's largest multilingual network.

After seeing Phantom of the Opera in 1989, Robert falls in love with musical theater and begins performing in community theater productions. In just over two years, he wins leading roles and performs in five musicals: Sweet Charity, See Saw, Anything Goes, Oklahoma! and The Music Man. He thus begins taking his art more seriously and approaches professional musicals, reaching the third audition for Toronto's first official production of Les Mis. But it is during this time, that he decides to move back to his native country, Italy, and thus does not take part in the show.

While in Rome, he studies classical singing for 15 years. During this time, he begins working on a new musical, McGregors, which he co-writes and stars in. This show is presented Off-Broadway in 1995, co-directed by Chorus Line's Baayork Lee.

In subsequent years, Robert stars in Blood Brothers (Eddie), Riccardo Cocciante's Notre Dame de Paris (Frollo), Moulin Rouge (Christian), The Count of Montecristo (Dantès), of which he also writes book and lyrics, and Canterville, of which he is co-librettist and lyricist.
